Churches to bless furry friends

Three East County churches will hold blessing-of-the-animal ceremonies Saturday, in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis.

They are:

• Faith United Church of Christ, 4850 State Road 64 E., Bradenton: 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (dogs in the morning and cats and other animals in the afternoon)

• Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 12905 State Road 70 E., Lakewood Ranch: 9:30 to 1:30 a.m.

• Church of the Trinity, 7225 N. Lockwood Ridge Rd., Sarasota: 10:30 a.m.

Church of the Trinity also will hold a pet fair from 9 a.m. to noon. Festivities will include pet products and business booths, local rescue groups, pet photography, pet health information and more.
