The hunt is on for a driver who drove his car into four people, seriously injuring one of them. Investigators though say they’re not sure whether the driver is a suspect or a victim.

At 3:30 a.m., sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene of a reported car crash with injuries in the 4300 block of Hymount Avenue. Before that was reported, there had been an altercation between several people there.

Detectives say one of the people in the dispute got into a red Ford Mustang and intentionally hit four other people and a house with it.

One victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. That person was released from the hospital a few hours later.

The driver left the scene before deputies arrived and is still being sought for questioning.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office at 816-4900 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 366-TIPS.
