This week, The East County Observer went behind the scenes of the Acting Up Performing Arts Summer Camp to see what the actors and actresses’ enjoy the most about camp. The camp, which runs June 14 through July 2, will conclude with performances at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., July 2.

What do you enjoy the most about Acting Up Camp?

Danny Shevlin, 13
Learning all of the songs and dances and then getting to go on stage and perform them. I’ve danced for a long time and I really enjoy it. It just comes natural to me.

Lily Dominquez, 12
Definitely the performing at the end. We spend about three weeks learning our scenes. So it’s fun to perform in front of our parents and show them how much we’ve progressed.

Julia Barrow, Lakewood Ranch High junior and camp counselor
Watching the kids progress. You have these shy kids come in and then after three weeks they’re out on stage performing. It’s awesome to see how much they progress and where they are after just three weeks.

Brooke Depasquale, 5
The plays. They’re fun.

Stevie Romero, 9
Acting and singing. It’s fun.
