+ Publix Liquors set to open Longboat location March 14
Publix Liquors will open its Longboat Key location at 8 a.m. Thursday, March 14.

The 1,300-square-foot store is located at 523 Bay Isles Parkway.

Store hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.

+ Marina’s and Swim City to hold open houses
Marina’s Face, Body & Nail Care, 3172 Gulf of Mexico Drive, and Swim City, 3170 Gulf of Mexico Drive, will hold open houses Saturday, March 16. Both events will include food, music and drinks. Marina’s Face, Body & Nail Care’s event runs from 3 to 6 p.m., while Swim City’s event is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Marina’s will give out samples of products and will offer a raffle and various specials.

Swim City will offer a 20% discount. The event will feature a trunk show with swimwear by Maryan Melhorn and accessories by local jewelry designer Diana Kahlenberg.

+ ‘Business is Back’ reception takes place Monday
A “Business is Back” reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 18, at the SunTrust Building, 510 Bay Isles Road, located across the street from Longboat Key Town Hall.

Longboat Management Co. recently leased the vacant suite where Re/Max Excellence previously operated, bringing the building to 100% occupancy. The company provides condominium- and property-management services.

Event sponsors are Longboat Management Co., Secur-All Insurance and SunTrust Bank.

+ Wyland to showcase his latest sculptures at gallery
Marine artist Wyland will showcase his newest sculptures from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23, at Wyland Gallery, 314 John Ringing Blvd., St. Armands Circle.

Wyland will create new images both evenings as visitors watch and discuss the “Comics for Conservation” campaign that he and his foundation are launching to promote awareness about conserving the Earth’s resources.

+ Victoria Jacobson named chamber’s executive assistant
Victoria Jacobson is the new executive assistant at the Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce.

A Sarasota resident since 1984, she has a background in event planning, customer service and administration.

She has been involved with fundraising for charity events including Light the Night, Suncoast Offshore Grand Prix and Sarasota County 4-H. She spent the last eight years volunteering with county youth teaching miniature-horse care and showmanship.
