LAKEWOOD RANCH
Lakewood Ranch will be the site of the Taste of Argentina Forks and Corks 2009 Winemaker's Dinner.

The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., May 14, at The Polo Grill, 10670 Boardwalk Loop, Lakewood Ranch. Winery director Leandro Lowi will fly in from Argentina to pour Familia Zuccardi/Santa Julia modern-style wines featuring non-traditional characteristics. Pairing these wines with Polo Grill cuisine will offer you aspects of food and wine you may never have known otherwise.

UNIVERSITY PARK
Nate’s Place and Honor Sanctuary Animal Rescue will launch the Saturday Dog Day Adoption Day program from 9 a.m. to noon, May 16, at Nate’s Place, 8435 Cooper Creek Blvd. in The Shoppes at University Plaza. The program will continue the first and third Saturdays of each month.

In addition to Nate’s Place and the Honor Sanctuary, the program will feature canines from Racing Dog Rescue Project, Kickapoo Rescue and Last Chance. Several vendors, including Ladybug Environmental Pest Control, also will be displaying a variety of pet products.

RITZ-CARLTON CLUB
In honor of national PGA Free Lesson Month, The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club is providing golf lessons for all ages from noon to 7 p.m., May 18, at the club, 15150 70th Terrace E.

In addition to the lessons, guests also can watch players compete for a spot in the U.S. Open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children also will be able to participate in golf games, take mini lessons and sign up for local Junior Golf summer camps during the After School Program from 4-7 p.m. Hot dogs, burgers and soft drinks will be available.

“This will be a great way to kick off summer golf in Sarasota for all involved,” said Glen Murray, director of golf operations for The Members Golf Club. “This is an opportunity to rub shoulders with the best local golfers as well as the game’s top experts in Sarasota.”
