PALM-AIRE
The Suncoast Community Blood Bank has scheduled a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., June 3, at Palm-Aire Country Club, 5601 Country Club Way.

All donors will receive either a sleeve of golf balls or tennis balls. The Blood Bank contacted Sumner Baum, organizer of the drive, to say they were thrilled with the efforts of the April drive and hope they can rely on past donors and encourage new donors to stop by (new donors are required to present a photo ID). Donors are encouraged to visit the Blood Banks website at www.scbb.org to learn more about the organization.

LAKEWOOD RANCH
Attention all Lakewood Ranch residents: Local animal activist Michelle Sampson needs your help locating a lost dog.

According to Sampson, Sadie, a 5-year-old pointer, was adopted from Animal Services last week. The people who adopted her took her to the Greenbrook Adventure Park Dog Park without a leash, and Sadie ran away.

“The people that adopted her said they have zero interest in trying to find her because she peed on their carpet,” Sampson says.

If anyone spots Sadie, please call Sampson at 915-9274.

EAST MANATEE
Napier’s Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary Inc. has this handsome coonhound mix available for adoption. Tyson is 10 months old, neutered, crate-trained and was surrendered to the shelter when his owner moved and left him behind.

Tyson is quiet and shy. Adoption donation is $150.

About 180 Temple Emanu-El members gathered for the congregation’s third annual Mitzvah Day May 3.

These spirited and hardworking participants engaged in 17 different community service projects, including: planning and hosting a party for homeless children; preparing bag lunches for the homeless; raising money for Mothers Helping Mothers; sorting food at All Faiths Food Bank; and much more.

“Although we usually translate the word ‘mitzvah’ as good deed, it actually means ‘commandment,’” Mitzvah Day chair Rabbi Elaine Rose Glickman said. “For Jews, these are not just acts of charity or kindness — they are truly religious obligations.”
