Buchanan, Panama ambassador visit port

U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan will be joined by the ambassador of Panama today in a tour of Port Manatee.

Buchanan and Jaime Eduardo Aleman Healy will discuss economic opportunities associated with the expansion of the Panama Canal.

The men will meet with the Manatee County Port Authority and other community leaders at 9 a.m., in the Port Manatee Intermodal Center, 1905 Intermodal Circle in Palmetto. A private tour of the port is scheduled for 9:55 a.m.
