+ Planning board member appointed
At its Thursday, March 25 regular workshop, the Town Commission appointed Bay Isles resident Bradford Saivetz to the Planning and Zoning Board.
Savietz is the semi-retired owner of a Boston-based architectural-and-engineering firm.
In his application to the board, Saivetz wrote: “In my early years, our firm worked with the Home Builders Association of Massachusetts in formulating and getting enacted many of the Planning and Zoning laws, which protected the rights to build during the post-war battle between the homecoming veterans who needed a place to live and the ‘Mrs. Nimby’s’ who were saying, ‘Not in my Backyard.’ ... Our firm planned, processed and got built, during that period, about 20,000 single-family homes, plus countless numbers of apartments and condominiums.”

+ P&Z meeting moved to the temple
Town Manager Bruce St. Denis sent an e-mail to the Town Commission and the Planning and Zoning Board March 26, announcing that the planning board’s 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 6 special meeting is being moved from Town Hall to Temple Beth Israel, 567 Bay Isles Road.
St. Denis said he has proposed that the town, the Longboat Key Club and Resort and The Islandside Property Owners Coalition split the rental cost three ways.
If needed, the planning board will also meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Temple Beth Israel.
