Authorities report that a reckless driver of a Dodge Caravan crashed into a line of cars this morning near the intersection of Main Street and Washington.

Officer Bud Johnson reports that although there is a suspicion that the driver under the influence of a substance, Sarasota police were unable to perform a sobriety test because the driver and passenger of the Caravan both sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital.

Five cars, including the Caravan, were damaged.

Johnson says the driver hasn't been charged yet, but will likely facing reckless driving charges. Police are hoping to perform a blood test after the driver's injuries have been treated.

Police are checking the validity of the driver's insurance.
