Sarasota County Administrator Randall Reid will present a new option to address noise complaints in Siesta Key Village during an address to Sarasota County Commissioners later today. The solution would require the addition of $21,060 to the county operating budget for the 2013 fiscal year.

Sarasota County Director of Planning and Services Rob Lewis recommended current code enforcement officer Kevin Burns, who analyzed sound as a signals intelligence officer with U.S. Army Military Intelligence for four years, for overtime hours. Burns would be charged with assuring compliance with an environmental ordinance that restricts Village restaurant and bars to specific decibel levels for 10 to 15 overtime hours per week.

Lewis in June reported that hiring a part time officer for enforcement would cost between $38,000 and $56,000 annually.
