On Tuesday, construction began at Bird Key Park as the city replaces drivable grass parking areas with brick pavers.

According to a city press release, construction started on the west side of the park, and will begin on the east side in two weeks. The park will remain open while construction is ongoing, and parking areas will still be accessible.

Altogether, the project is slated to last for a month. The brick pavers are being installed because they can better handle the traffic the park receives, according to the release. The cost of the project is about $75,000.
