Nathan Benderson Park continues to host big events.

On Tuesday, Suncoast Aquatic and Nature Center Associates announced the park would host the 2017 USRowing’s Youth National Championships.

The championships are the premier rowing event in the United States for junior rowers. The event, which will bring approximately 1,500 athletes and their coaches and families to the area, will be held June 9-11, 2017. Competition will be held in 18 classes.

“We are excited to partner once again with USRowing and happy to host another Youth National Championship at Nathan Benderson Park,” said SANCA Event and Volunteer Manager Sarah Kupiec in a release. “Nathan Benderson Park is a premier rowing facility and Sarasota-Bradenton is a wonderful destination for all to enjoy. And, this is a great event to help us usher in the excitement of 2017 World Rowing Championships taking place at the park later in the fall.”

In 2015, NBP hosted the USRowing Youth Nationals, which brought in 1,993 participants and 4,991 spectators to the Sarasota/Bradenton area. According to a SANCA release, the numbers resulted in nearly 4,000 hotel room nights being booked and an estimated impact of over $6 million for the area.
