BCC invites business owners to forum

The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners is soliciting feedback from the local business community on how it can work better with the private sector during the recession.

Business owners are invited to attend the “We are Listening, Part II” forum from 1-3 p.m., Aug. 2, in the Longboat Key Room of the Manatee Civic Center, One Haben Blvd., Palmetto.

Business consultant and speaker Barry Banther will lead the discussion, which is aimed to ensure the county is meeting the needs of the county’s businesses.

The last session, which was held in February 2009, resulted in the suspension of half of all transportation impact fees for two years as well as the acceleration of capital projects, many of which were awarded to local contractors.
