Fifteen homes in the 3100 block of Bayou Sound near the entrance to the Bay Isles community are under a boil water notice until Tuesday afternoon.

That’s because a 10-inch water line broke on Harbourside Drive 11:30 p.m. Saturday near the entrance to Bayou Sound, forcing police to reroute traffic on the road as Public Works crews worked to repair the line on Sunday.

The line was repaired Sunday night but 15 homes are still under a precautionary boil water notice.

Longboat Key Assistant Town Manager Anne Ross said the town must pass two water sample tests on consecutive days before the boil water notice will be lifted.

The earliest the boil water notice can be lifted is Tuesday afternoon.
