Attempted bank robbery at Wells Fargo

Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted bank robbery at Wells Fargo, 8595 South Tamiami Trail today.

The suspect entered the building at 12:42 p.m., showed the teller the butt of a black handgun and pointed to the cash drawer. At that point he got nervous and fled the bank on foot, heading westbound across U.S. 41 toward a CVS store.

The suspect is 5-foot-11-inches tall, with a slim build and pale skin. He has dyed whitish-blonde hair, and was wearing black, wrap-around mirrored sunglasses, a faded denim jacket and light colored jeans.
