Lakewood Ranch High sophomore defensive back Wanley Desir had two of the Mustangs’ four interceptions in their 20-3 Class 6A-Distrct 12 victory over Dixie Hollins Oct. 19. It was the 15-year-old’s first game with two interceptions and his third consecutive game with an interception.

What was your reaction when you got your second interception of the game?
I was happy I caught it. I don’t know why he threw it to me. He was looking right at me, but he was under pressure. It was an easy interception.

Why do you think you have had so many interceptions lately?
My coach (Anthony) Littlejohn puts me in the right spot. He shows me what to do, and I just try to do it.

Of the positions that you play, which is your favorite?
I like covering a lot. I like to see if that receiver can beat me. If he does, he’s not going to do it again.

How long have you been playing football?
I’ve been playing since my freshman year. I’ve always loved playing football, but I never had the opportunity until last year.

Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?
I want to play football.

Do you play any other sports?
Track and basketball

Do you have any siblings?
Two sisters: Choumika, 17, and Cheyanne, 4, and two brothers, Evans, 18, and Delisma, 7.

What is your favorite subject?
Algebra. I was in coach (Anthony) Littlejohn’s Algebra II class and he made it so easy to learn. It’s a challenge, but I still like it.

What’s your favorite movie?
“300.” I just like action movies about history.

Are you from Florida?
No, I was born in Haiti. I moved to Florida when I was 5.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
France. I speak French and Creole. I’ve never been there before and I would like to go.
