The East County Observer and Bogey’s Restaurant and Sports Pub have teamed up to showcase the East County’s top athletes. Each recipient’s article will be featured on the restaurant’s wall.

Manatee East Majors pitcher and outfielder Steven Varone hit a go-ahead grand slam in the District 26 County Cup May 21, propelling the Eye Associates to a 6-3 victory over Bellacinos. The 11-year-old followed up his grand slam with a solo home run May 22 — his third home run of the week.
