The East County Observer and Bogey’s Restaurant and Sports Pub have teamed up to showcase the East County’s top athletes. Each recipient’s article will be featured on the restaurant’s wall.

Waterlefe resident Robyn Drourr used her sand wedge to record her first hole-in-one July 16 on the 86-yard No. 4 of Waterlefe Golf and River Club. Here is an inside look at this week’s Athlete of the Week.

|What was your reaction when you got your hole-in-one?
It was almost surreal. It was just very exciting. I hit a great shot that landed in front of the green and gently rolled in. The rest of the day, I was floating, and I still am.

When did you take up golf?
I started after my kids were grown, and I had more time. I began taking lessons and playing nine holes after work with a group of women. I just sort of went from there.

What do you enjoy the most about golf?
Being out in the fresh air with nice people and good friends. The game also constantly changes. It’s always challenging.

How long have you and Howie been married?
Seven-and-one-half years. We met when I was working for Delta Airlines as a sales manager. I presented him with his two million miles award in the early 90s.

Do you have any children?
I have a daughter and three grandchildren that live in St. Louis, Mo., and Howie has four kids and two grandchildren.

Do you have any pets?
I have a German shepherd/border collie mix named Tara. We walk Waterlefe together every morning.

Are you from Florida originally?
No. I’m from Utah. I moved to Florida in the early 90s, and then we moved back in 2002.

What’s your all-time favorite vacation?
A river cruise to the southern part of France. It was a small ship, and we got to see beautiful countryside and a bunch of small towns that you would never go to on a regular vacation.
