The owner of a St. Armands Circle art gallery has been charged with selling more than $250,000 worth of art on consignment and not paying the owners of those works of art.

Robert Preiss, owner of R&R Bond Gallery, was arrested Aug. 28 on grand theft and scheme to defraud charges.

Police say he sold several pieces of art, including the Salvador Dali sculpture, “Winged Triton 2/19,” and never told the owners that they were sold and kept the proceeds for himself.

Preiss was jailed on a $25,000 bond.
