Armed robbers invade Lakewood Ranch home

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office believes the robbery was drug-related.

A Greenbrook home was the site of an armed, home invasion robbery early Monday morning which the Manatee County Sheriff's Office termed in its report as "drug-related."

The Sheriff's Office report said four suspects armed with long guns entered an unlocked, rear door of a residence at 13522 Glossy Ibis Place at 3:22 a.m.. Deputies arrived on the scene to a strong odor of marijuana. One suspect in the robbery, Robert A. Baylis, 20, was arrested and charged with home invasion robbery. 

Three other suspects are at large, according to the Sheriff's Office report.

One of the eight victims at the home sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Another of the victims, Nicholas Layton, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Sarasota County for failure to appear.

The Sheriff's Office report states it is not known what was taken during the robbery at this time. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff's Office at 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
