What do you do when the performer at your benefit concert cancels at the last minute? The party must go on.

That’s what happened March 26, at All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church, when artist Ray Granito was hospitalized just hours before the event.

After some discussion, it was decided to make the evening “the biggest party ever.” Food Committee Chairwoman Jane Perin proceeded on schedule and laid out potato pancakes with caviar dip, dates broiled in bacon strips, cheese trays, chicken-salad rolls and more.

Event Chairwoman Jan Webb and the Rev. David Danner welcomed the group and explained the situation. All agreed to party, regardless. The good news is Granito has been released from the hospital.

No plans have been made to reschedule the event.
