Construction of the Longboat Island Chapel’s Aging in Paradise Resource Center is reaching new heights.

Last week, the church began construction of the elevator for the 3,700-square-foot space that is expected to be completed later this year.

The center will not be a health-care facility, however, it will eventually serve as a liaison between individuals facing age-related issues and the organizations and services available for everything from health problems and memory loss to financial planning. The ideas behind the resource center came about more than four years ago as the result of aging issues that many chapel members saw within their congregation.
