Authorities are investigating the burglary to a home in the River Club community that resulted in the loss of $39,000 in jewelry.

A Manatee County Sheriff's report states a home in the 10500 block of Cheval Place, in River Club South, was burglarized sometime between 6 and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Unknown person(s) smashed the rear sliding glass door to the master bedroom and entered without setting off the alarm. Once inside, the person(s) removed $39,000 in jewelry, including a $30,000 solid 18-karat gold watch. The person(s) used a pillowcase from the bedroom to carry the stolen jewelry away.

"(The case is) under active investigation," Bristow said. "We want to make sure we get the word out. If anybody saw anything in that neighborhood, they need to let us know right away."
