If you’re able to spend $2 million on a home, Sarasota has some great options — and lots of them. At this price point you’ll get something special — a large, elegant home that has an impressive array of features, but with a look and personality all its own. It will be in a premium neighborhood, naturally. It will usually have a great view. Best of all, it can hold its own with nearby $5 million and $10 million homes. Let’s take a look at some examples that show why $2 million is such a sweet spot these days.

Longboat Luxury
535 Sanctuary Drive, Unit A701

Longboat Key specializes in luxurious apartments with fabulous views, and, for $2 million, you can get one of the nicer ones. This 3,115-square-foot unit is located behind the gates of the Longboat Key Club, in one of the more prestigious buildings. It’s on the seventh floor, with views in several directions — including the Gulf — from the 800-square-foot terrace. There’s an open layout with three bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths. The complex offers full, resort-style amenities, including two tennis courts, and it’s pet-friendly.

Priced at $2.15 million. For more information, call Marie Monsky, of Michael Saunders & Co., at 350-3245.

Classic Charm
1830 Lincoln Drive

In Sarasota’s established mainland neighborhoods, $2 million will buy you one of the more special homes, though it probably won’t be on the water. Here’s a beautifully renovated and restored charmer from the 1920s on historic Lincoln Drive, just a short walk from downtown. Built in the unusual Mediterranean Mission style, its features include original mahogany floors, interior archways and 10-foot ceilings. The pool area includes a pergola and fire pit, plus a separate guesthouse.

Priced at $2,095,000. For more information, call Susan McLeod, of Michael Saunders & Co., at 928-4445.

Siesta Key Stunner
5330 Siesta Cove Drive

Here’s a classic Siesta Key home right on the water, complete with a 40-foot dock and boat lift. The style is pure Key West tropical, with lots of balconies and terraces overlooking the view and the pool area. The living room features a dramatic Florida limestone fireplace and vaulted ceilings; there are four bedrooms and four baths. Though it was built in 1977, the home has been nicely updated, particularly the kitchen and baths. Custom touches include wood and stone trim and unusual room shapes.

Priced at $2,099,000. For more information, call Judie Berger, of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, at 928-3424.
