College News, Part II: My House is on Fire?

March 22. I received an e-mail with the subject line "Amherst Admission Decision Information." I felt an instant rush of adrenaline as the blood in my body turned thick like peanut butter. Was my heart even pumping?

College News, Part I: Good News from Green!

April 1. I've had a countdown on my phone and on my laptop to that day since about September 15th. No joke. It's kind of a big deal, you see, because that's the day when all those colleges have to get their admissions decisions back to us.

Moody’s State of the Union

In honor of the short (and I mean, really short) answer section on some college applications and the ever-popular "tweets" on Twitter, here is a recap of various areas of my life in 25 words or less each.

Marry Me, Taylor Lautner?

Tan. Great physique. Irresistible. No, I’m not describing myself. (I wish!) I’m talking about none other than Taylor Lautner.

Acetone Pie

I know I've already blogged about my disgusting chicken disaster in Budapest, but the food gods apparently don't have it in mind to take it easy on my stomach.

Breathe in, breathe out

This week, I let out a sigh of relief that could probably be heard around the world. And it all boils down to one simple reason: I finished and sent out all of my college applications!

My first last week of high school.

As usual, I started off the school year by publicly embarrassing myself. This time, it was in the form of the annual dress-code fashion show during our morning assembly.

Mr. Congeniality’s Tourist Trap

We fall victim to a waiter in Budapest.

You have to pay to use the bathrooms?

Vanessa Moody returns from her 10-day European tour.

College Cupid

When I signed up on the Common Application Web site, I expected a lot of things. I expected an easy, online way to apply to many colleges at once.

About Vanessa Moody

I was born in Portland, Maine, but moved to Sarasota when I was two, so I’ve lived here for most of my 17 years. My dad is also from Maine and my mom is from Brazil. I have a younger brother named Kevin, who is the greatest friend in the world to me. I also have a dog who passes for a sheep and plays the piano when she’s bored.

I’m a senior at the Out-of-Door Academy, where I participate in the plays and musicals, as well as cross-country and soccer. If you can’t already tell, English is my favorite subject. I love to write in my spare time, which is how this blog came to be!

I’m a Pisces, with a February birthday. I don’t like any seafood or cheese … and, yes, that means I don’t eat pizza. I do, however, love all other foods. Photography and the arts in general are big hobbies of mine. I’m also one of those people who is constantly watching movies or reading a new book. I’m a bit of a packrat; I collect Tinkerbell, frogs, lucky pennies, old cards people have sent me, pretty stationery, keychains, and some stamps. And last, but not least, I have a love affair with language, English and foreign. I speak Portuguese and Spanish but I want to learn more.
