About Molly Schechter
I am one of the people who shows up with a Canon slung around her neck at charity events from benefit galas to fashion shows to … whatever some creative, caring person comes up with to raise money for their favorite philanthropy. Taking photos is part of my job as Social Editor of The Observer Group’s “Black Tie.” I also write this weekly “Black Tie & Tales” column that focuses on the human interest aspects of that activity and now appears on the website as a blog. It won’t really be that until some of you post to it, so … please do!
I have another identity as the Aerobic Grandma and the author of an eponymous monthly column on fitness for The Longboat Observer. And still another as a teacher of Pilates and Yoga classes on Longboat Key. In my “spare time” (that’s a joke – please chuckle!), I am an active volunteer for arts and human services organizations in town. That includes being a Board Member of Designing Women Boutique and Sarasota Season of Sculpture, and supporting the Asolo Rep, Community AIDS Network, Sarasota Ballet, Senior Friendship Centers and Temple Beth Israel of Longboat Key.
I have a regular Saturday morning date with two charming males – my grandsons, Nathaniel Thomas Atkins and Julian Gabriel Atkins. And I feel enormously blessed by all of it!
