The leading real-estate transaction for the recording week of Sept. 14 through Sept. 18 was the $2.2 million that Karen and Steven Shapiro, from Chappaqua, N.Y., paid for Unit 808 at the 11-story, 86-unit Water Club Tower II.
The sellers were the Luckman family, as represented by Alan Luckman and Gregg Luckman, of Floral Park, N.Y., on behalf of the estate of Lesley Luckman, of Roslyn, N.Y. The Luckmans bought the condominium new for $1,164,900 in November 1999.
The three-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath condo at 1281 Gulf of Mexico Drive has 3,273 square feet of living area.
The week’s second-largest transaction was the $1.7 million that Suntrust Mortgage, Inc., of Richmond, Va., received from Michael Ratner, of Brooklyn Three Trust, of Brooklyn, N.Y., for the north-Key, Gulf-front home at 6405 Gulfside Road.
The four-bedroom, two-bath home has 1,528 square feet of living space. It was originally built in 1953 and later upgraded in 1967. The home last sold for $1.71 million in January 2002.
Emma and Hamlin Gilbert Jr. sold their Sleepy Lagoon Park No. 3 home at 774 Norton St. to Alma and Norbert Mongeon Jr., of Smithfield, Mich., for $690,000. The three-bedroom, three-bath home has 2,208 square feet of living area. It was first constructed in 1968 and later expanded and updated in 1975.
The Gilberts bought the home for $450,000 in March 2000.
Grand Bay I
Myrna and John Blume, of New Vernon, N.J., sold their Unit 176 at Grand Bay I to Krysler Partners Limited Partnership, of Riverside, Conn., for $1.41 million. The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath condo was constructed in 1994 and has 2,781 square feet of living area.
The Blumes bought the condo for $1,055,500 in April 2000.
Hideaway Bay was originally named “Wake Island” by the late honorary mayor of Longboat Key, Guy Paschal. After he and his wife, Melanie, left the Key, they sold the property to developers who platted it, provided roads and renamed it Hideaway Bay. Although Paschal achieved fame as the inventor of Air Wick, the development is best known today because the world-renowned tennis star Maria Sharapova bought a home there several years ago.
There was one sale at Hideaway Bay in which Sheri and Frank Vero, of Ocala, purchased the 3,306-square-foot home at 700 Hideaway Bay Lane for $743,700 from Countrywide Bank, FSB.
The three-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath home with 3,306 square feet of living area was constructed in 1992. The home last sold for $1.87 million in April 2006.
Emerald Harbor Drive
Mark Gartung and Carina Thompson, of East Moriches, N.Y., bought the home at 721 Emerald Harbor Drive from Matilda and John Mack, of Lakeland, for $625,000. The house was built in 1970 and has three bedrooms and two baths with 1,719 square feet of living area. The Macks bought the home for $200,000 in July 1992.
There was one transaction at the 89-unit Islands West condominium at 2525 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Joann Abbott and Helen Seiple sold their Unit 9-B to Paula and Kevin Chase, of Orlando, for $450,000.
The one-bedroom, one-bath condo was built in 1972 and has 1,124 square feet of living space. The sellers bought the apartment for $426,000 in January 2003.
Betsy and Raymond Kotcher, from Long Beach, N.Y., bought the penthouse Unit PH-4 in Building C at the 151-unit Windward Bay condominium at 4800 Gulf of Mexico Drive from Lenore Hagen, of Volo, Ill., for $300,000.
The two-bedroom, two-bath condo was built in 1975 and has 1,096 square feet of living space. Hagen bought the penthouse for $140,000 in December 1991.
Coastal Properties of Florida LLC, as represented by managing member Robin Sabattini Starr, sold Unit 252 in the 55-unit The Diplomat condominium, 3155 Gulf of Mexico Drive, to Florida Gulf Front Properties LLC, of Sarasota, for $271,000.
The unit has 416 square feet of living area, including a bathroom. It last sold for $320,000 in October 2005.
Helen Perez and her husband, Ramesh Raj Timilsina, from Elk Rapids, Mich., purchased Unit 105 in Building E at the 300-unit Longboat Harbour from James Buller, of Petoskey, Mich., for $185,000.
The one-bedroom, one-bath condo at 4350 Gulf of Mexico Drive has 667 square feet of living area and was constructed in 1969. Buller bought the condo for $90,000 in 1998.
Janet and Scott Wender, of Louisville, Ky., sold their Unit 208 at the Lido Ambassador, 800 Ben Franklin Drive, to Janet and Norman Watson for $650,000. The two-bedroom, two-bath condo was built in 1978 and has 1,350 square feet of living area. The Wenders bought the condo for $967,400 June 2006.
