EAST COUNTY — After eight years of selling real estate in East County under her own moniker, the namesake of Monte Davis Realty is joining another agency.
Real-estate broker Monte Davis has joined forces with ReMax Alliance Group, where she will now serve as an associate broker for the company. The deal, she said, will provide her more resources with which to work, while giving her clients’ homes more visibility locally and worldwide.
“I’m really excited about it,” Monte Davis said of her decision. “(The change) is giving my listings and my clients a leg up. That’s what it’s all about.”
Davis will continue to act as a qualifying broker for Monte Davis Realty, which will continue offering rental- and property-management services as it has done for more than two years.
And although she will not be listing homes through her company, Davis’ current real-estate agents will have the opportunity to continue selling homes under the Monte Davis Realty name or to switch over to ReMax, she said.
The company’s office on 58th Drive East also will remain open, dually serving as an office for Monte Davis Realty and as an affiliate office for ReMax Alliance Group’s Lakewood Ranch location, Davis said.
“This is not the typical deal,” Davis said. “It’s a convenience for me and for ReMax.”
Final details are being worked out, and Davis said she expects the deal to be finalized by the end of the month.
Although the decision comes as a surprise to many, Davis said she’s had an appreciation for ReMax since working there a decade ago. She’d joined the ReMax team just six months after moving in 1998 to East County.
“I loved ReMax, but at the time, they didn’t have a team concept,” Davis said, adding the entity was set up to cater to individual agents. “It didn’t work for us.”
So, she and her husband, Bill, started Monte Davis Realty in 2001.
Davis said Monte Davis Realty has continued to perform well despite the change in the economy, but she could no longer resist the benefits a larger company could offer. ReMax had been contacting her for years, and several months ago, Davis began taking the offers more seriously, beginning negotiations and meeting with principals of the company.
