The Perlman Music Program Sarasota Winter Residency, presented by The Perlman Music Program/Suncoast, will hold a cello master class, chorus rehearsal and student recital Thursday, Jan. 3, at USF Sarasota-Manatee. The cello master class takes place at 11 a.m., the chorus rehearsal takes place at 5 p.m. and the student recital takes place at 7 p.m. The Perlman Music Program Sarasota Winter Residency offers training for students who come from around the world to study and play violin, viola, cello and bass with esteemed mentors, including Itzhak Perlman. Free public events include orchestra and chorus rehearsals, master classes and student recitals. Q&A sessions with Itzhak Perlman and PMP students and faculty follow many events. These free events take place in a heated outdoor performance tent on the grounds of the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 to Monday, Dec. 10 (except Sunday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, 9).
