The luncheon will benefit the establishment of a Cultural Resource Center which will be housed at the library. The center will serve Sarasota and surrounding counties as a reference and research facility of materials on all aspects of the global black experience. Keynote speaker for the luncheon will be Khalil Gibran Muhammad, Ph.D., director of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, a research library within the New York City Library system.

Southeastern Guide Dogs celebrated the beginning of a new chapter at its graduation ceremony Thursday, April 24. Eight graduates and their guide dogs spent the afternoon enjoying their new companionship. Guests heard from Southeaster Guide Dog alumnus guest speaker Donald Olinger. "I'm absolutely ecstatic," says Tina Ladner of bringing her guide, Tangerine, home.
Commission denies Siesta Key building plans
