According to a press release by the Beachaven Association, three vandals destroyed $7,000 worth Christmas decorations and property 11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.

Surveillance cameras caught three vandals ripping out Christmas lights, throwing decorations on the ground and stealing the favored Santa Pig that has helped the condominium win a number of awards at The Siesta Key Condo Council Lighting Contest.

They left driving on the grass and destroying the condominium’s sign.

“I call them the Christmas Grinches,” said Property Manager Veronika Bajtala.

Bajtala heard the racket as the vandals drove off and came outside. She called the police. The vandals moved on to destroy decorations on another property on Siesta Key where the police caught them.

Police have located the pig since Sunday. 

Due to the destruction Beachaven Condominium was not able to partake in the Siesta Key Condo Council Lighting Contest Tuesday, Dec. 18.
