Public hearing scheduled for Parking District
Date: November 30, 2012

The Sarasota County Commission will hold a public hearing Dec. 4, to consider ending a special taxing district in Siesta Key Village.
Property owners previously paid the county an annual fee to finance a portion of construction costs for a municipal parking lot in the Village.
County staff recommends paying roughly $287,000 from the general fund to repay remaining debt from that project, and abolish the district before 2013 fiscal year assessments.
Commissioners voted to hold the meeting due to concerns about fairness in enforcement of the assessment, which is based on properties’ parking requirements.
Commissioners will also consider:
• Road impact fee updates
• A contract to provide County lifeguards for emergencies near New Pass
• Three grants, $25,000 each, for homeless prevention services
• Appointing a hotelier to the Tourist Development Council
