The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and Underwater Recovery Unit last night recovered the body of a 41-year-old Sarasota man found floating in the Grand Canal near channel marker 72 on Siesta Key, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

Deputies discovered some belongings of Robert Chittenden, 41, of 5239 block of Herons Way, by a pavilion on a nature trail near his property in the Landings. He allegedly told someone he was going swimming, the news release states.

Investigators do not suspect foul play and the body had no signs of trauma. The Medical Examiner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine how Chittenden had died.
