The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office concluded at 15-day operation to apprehend impaired drivers.
The operation, titled, “Operation to Stop Impaired Driving,” was a nationwide drive that ran Aug. 19 to Sept. 5. According to a Sarasota County Sheriff's press release, 10,000 law enforcement agencies took part in the drive. The release reports 40 DUI arrests were made for Sarasota.
“While this country has made great strides, impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of death and injury on America’s roads,” said Sheriff Tom Knight. “Through public education during efforts such as Operation SID and advertising campaigns by state and national safety groups, the driving public will hopefully make better decisions about getting behind the wheel while impaired.”
