Hurricane Irene’s potential track area no longer includes Longboat Key — or any part of the state of Florida.

According to the National Hurricane Center’s website, nhc.noaa.gov, the storm’s potential track area now includes a stretch of the eastern United States from South Carolina to Pennsylvania.

The storm’s previous potential track area included Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
