Siesta Key beachgoers might have noticed something missing the past few weeks. The sign proclaiming the No. 1 beach ranking that was installed in January has been missing, and residents feared it was stolen.
But the sign was vandalized, not stolen, and it has been taken to the vendor for repairs. The front side of the sign, which represented the front of a postcard depicting Siesta Key Beach, has been taken down and temporarily replaced with beach-condition signs. The repaired portion of the sign is scheduled for reinstallation tomorrow afternoon.
