Superior Asphalt Inc. began peeling up asphalt Cape Leyte Drive in Siesta Isles yesterday as part of the $2.9 million Gulf Gate Area Roads 12B project, which Sarasota County is funding with a surtax III bond. County staff expects work to be finished next week.
The contractor will make minor repairs to about 300 feet of curb before new asphalt is laid, according to County project manager Art Powell. The firm is doing similar work on Shadow Lawn Drive, Avenida Del Mare, Calle Del Otono, Calle Del Verano, and Beach Way on Siesta Key.
“We anticipate, without any unforeseen weather conditions, being competed before Thanksgiving,” Chapman said.
