Parking on Siesta Key might be less severe now that Siesta Shuttle Transportation launched its two-bus transit service from Westfield Southgate Mall to the island Feb. 16.

“It was great,” said Siesta Shuttle co-founder David Krbec of the launch. The firm gave free rides to more than 120 patrons on the route with stops in Siesta Key Village and the public beach, he explained.

Siesta Shuttle’s regular $5 round-trip pricing will begin Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. and the buses will continue operating from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends starting at Westfield Southgate Mall.
