Siesta Key Association to discuss fire ant solutions
Date: February 6, 2013
by: Alex Mahadevan | News Editor
Siesta Key Association members Allan Worms and Bob Luckner, both Ph. D. holders, will discuss removal of red important fire ants that have begun to colonize dunes along Beach Road.
The pair appealed to Sarasota County Commissioner Nora Patterson late last year about the pests, which are an additional predator for threatened snowy plovers.
SKA President Catherine Luckner will discuss environmental and zoning issues, and touch on legislation aimed at giving Florida municipalities the power to ban outdoor smoking.
