Each year, the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program hosts a Thanksgiving food drive; the program was started in 1987 by former Sarasota Mayor Fredd Atkins.

This year, more than 150 schools, companies and organizations collected food that was given away to the needy in time for Thanksgiving.
