During an update at its Aug. 17 meeting on the coming roundabout at Five Points, the City Commission debated the placement of royal palm trees there, because their large fronds could block the road when they fall.
To illustrate this point, a man dragged a huge frond into the commission chambers. When he got up to leave, Commissioner Fredd Atkins joked that the man should just leave it there and the “city will pick it up.”
Commissioner Terry Turner then chimed in: “No, we want it out of here in the next month.”
