Local children’s book author Carmen Navarro-Talavera, who lives at The Oaks, in Osprey, has written a new book, “The Ant Lucy and the Hurricane.” The book teaches children a new and fun way to be prepared for hurricane season and how to deal with the natural disaster as a family. Navarro-Talavera’s interest in writing children's books started when she was a teacher in the rural mountains of Nicaragua and had no books available in her classroom. Her new book is also available in Spanish.
