One by one, they shared their happy, uplifting stories — stories of survival.
The American Cancer Society held a luncheon Friday, Aug. 13, at The Columbia Restaurant, to honor four recipients of the R.O.C.K. (Reaching Out to Cancer Kids) College Scholarship Program: Joseph Simmons, Barbara Grabau, Brenda Sorto and Kimberly Cullen.
The scholarship is exclusively for students with a history of cancer and gives young cancer survivors the opportunity to reach their academic potential and their career dreams by earning a college degree.
