Chapter CE of the Philanthropic Educational Organization honored scholarship recipients Vera Melnichuk, Morgan Courter and Jennifer Decanha during a luncheon July 28, at Marina Jack.
Melnichuk graduated in 2009 from North Port High School. She is a pre-med student at USF and was awarded a Florida PEO scholarship for the second year.
Courter graduated in June from Booker High School and will attend Cottey College, a liberal-arts college for women, owned and supported by PEO since 1927.
Both Melnichuk and Courter are honors students.
Decanha was awarded a grant under the Program for Continuing Education to help finance her studies at St. Petersburg College.
“I am excited about this scholarship because it means I can go to college,” Courter said. “I’m going into music education.”
