Sarasota’s Tim McCarver has been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. He was honored as this year’s inductee into the Ford Frick broadcast wing of the hall for his service to the game as a color commentator for the past 32 years.
McCarver played baseball for the Phillies before joining the Mets in the early 1980s and earning a 1986 World Series win. After his playing career, he went on to make a name for himself as a broadcaster for the Phillies, the Mets, the Yankees and the Giants.
