+ Church selected for peace award
Bishop Frank J. Dewane has selected Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish to receive the 2010 Peace and Justice Award, which will be presented at the annual Leaven Conference, “Human Dignity and Economic Justice,” March 13, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel was chosen as the recipient because of its many efforts to promote peace and justice ministries through its many programs and ministries such as the Immokalee food program, military ministry, Respect for Life ministry, parish food pantry and Work of Human Hands in support of Catholic Relief Services.
