- re: Roundabout We Go. Actually, “fait acompli” roundabouts along the Bayfront and North Trail is up to the FDOT, which has determined the initial roundabouts at 10th-14th meet the “capacity” demands of that four-lane federal highway as well as the mobility needs of the neighborhoods and businesses (and boaters) that use US41 – with less accident risk to all drivers, bikers, and walkers.
Objective is same as proven elsewhere in the USA (drivers will move through just as quick though slower (less stopping), save their fuel, less risk of getting hurt, for a better quality of life to all US41 users. When competed, our US41 will be a more inviting, safer, well-landscaped 4.5 mile welcoming entry into the City and Keys -- with all that can do for the area’s economy. Nothing like that in Florida!

- It's no wonder that college graduates studying this garbage can't find a job and default on their loans. But it's the taxpayers who are on the line for the unpaid debt. Yet another reason not to have public universities.

Can you dig it?
Third- and fourth-grade students of Temple Beth Sholom had a chance to brush up on their paleontology skills last week while digging for faux dinosaur bones.
Sound of scholars
Local students Caleb Upton and Matthew Vaadi received some help for their upcoming studies to the tune of $1,000 each from the Sarasota Chorus of the Keys. The scholarships were made possible through the Sheridan E. Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund. Both students plan to use the funds toward a career in music.
