In recognition of the Great American Smokeout, the Sarasota Convention and Visitors Bureau, Tobacco Free Partnership of Sarasota and the American Lung Association will host a stop-smoking event from 1-5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, on Siesta Key Beach.
“We are highlighting Sarasota County’s smoke-free beaches and encouraging people to get out and enjoy the clean, fresh air,” said Crystal Bruce, tobacco prevention specialist for Sarasota County.
The Sarasota County Health Department will offer free resource packets to anyone who wants to quit smoking.
The Great American Smokeout is a national event the American Cancer Society sponsors annually to encourage smokers to quit for one day with the hope they’ll then quit for life.
