It was both a fun day and a learning experience when The Out-of-Door Academy fifth-graders took a field trip Oct. 16 to Mote Marine Laboratory. The students spent the morning with members of the Mote education team.

The students collected items from the bay and learned how to identify and classify their findings. They also had a classroom lesson with hands-on activities. The school and Mote have a partnership enabling students to take part in programs twice a year.
