Sarasota police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that took place early morning Saturday on the John Ringling Bridge.
According to police, at about 1:32 a.m., a black 2010 Nissan Sentra was eastbound in the right lane when it was hit from behind by a red 2005 Suzuki motorcycle. Witnesses told police that prior to the crash the motorcycle had been traveling at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic, eastbound approaching the John Ringling Causeway.
The motorcycle driver, Ronald Ochoa, 31, of Sarasota, died at the scene of the crash. The four occupants of the Nissan were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Anyone with additional information about the crash is asked to contact Officer Bales at 915-3635.
